How to Put Line on a Spinning Reel
A Look at Spooling a Spinning Reel

Many people of have problems when putting a new line on a spinning reel because of the headache of tangles and twists.  There is a very simple and effective method to prevent those tangles and twists and just by getting it right the first time.  The concept that one should realize is that each spinning reel bail spins in a certain direction, whether it's counter clockwise or clock wise, depending on the brand of the spinning reel.  The same concept is true with a spool fishing line.

Here is a quick guide on how to spool a spinning reel:

1. Place the spool fishing line with the label up, on a flat surface or on the floor.
2. Take your spinning reel, and point it directly over the top of the new spool of line.
3. Slowly spin the bail on your reel.  Notice that the bail spins in a certain direction.
4. If it spins counterclockwise, you will want to have the line coming off the spool in a counterclockwise manner.
5. Make sure that the line coming off the spool is synching up with the bail's rotation direction.
6. If it doesn't synch up, just simply turn the spool over and that way the line will come off in the direction you need it to, making sure that it spins in the same direction as the bail.

It's as simple as that.  By synching up the rotation direction of the bail to the way the line is comming off the spool will prevent all the twists and tangles, and you're off to a great fishing start.
